Townle Play

Privacy Policy

Effective October 15, 2026

Townle is built to need as little of your data as possible: there are no accounts, your game progress stays on your device, and we only look at aggregated usage statistics.

1. Who we are

Townle (townle.com) is operated by AppStation Studio Pte. Ltd. ("we", "us"). We are responsible for the processing of personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at support@townle.com.

2. Information stored on your device

To remember your game, Townle saves the following in your browser's local storage on your device:

This information is not sent to us and we cannot see it. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser; statistics can also be reset in Settings.

3. Information collected automatically

Like any website, our hosting and content delivery providers receive technical information when your browser requests a page: your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page and the time of the request. This information is used only to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems, and is kept in server logs for a limited period.

4. Analytics

We use Google Analytics, provided by Google, to understand how many people play Townle and how the site is used - for example which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, which device and browser they use and how long they stay. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies and receives your IP address, but it does not log or store IP addresses for analytics reporting. We use these reports only in aggregate to improve the game.

Where the law requires your consent for analytics cookies, consent is requested before they are used. You can also block analytics by declining cookies, using your browser's privacy settings or installing the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

5. Advertising

Townle is free. Hints can be unlocked by watching a short rewarded ad, and an ad only plays when you choose to unlock a hint. To deliver and measure these ads, our advertising partners (such as Google) may collect information from your device - for example your IP address, device and browser information, advertising identifiers and cookies - and may use it to show ads that are more relevant to you where this is permitted.

Where the law requires your consent for this (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), consent is requested before such technologies are used, and you can change your choice at any time. You can also limit personalised advertising in your browser or device settings, or through Google Ad Settings. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com.

6. Google Maps

The results screen shows the mystery city on an embedded Google map. When the map loads, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address and browser information and may set cookies. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

7. Sharing your results

When you tap Share, Townle copies a short text summary of your game to your clipboard or opens your device's share sheet. The summary contains no personal information, and nothing is sent to us.

8. Cookies

Townle's own game data is kept in your browser's local storage as described above, not in cookies. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) to count visits, and advertising partners and Google Maps may set their own cookies, as described in sections 4 to 6.

9. How and why we use information

We use the limited information described above to:

10. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information for money. Information is shared only with service providers that help us run Townle (hosting, content delivery, analytics and advertising partners), with Google when the map is displayed, when required by law, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business. Some of these providers are located outside your country; where required, appropriate safeguards are used for such transfers.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, Singapore's PDPA or California's CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict its processing, withdraw consent, and opt out of the use of your information for targeted advertising. Because Townle has no accounts, most of your data stays on your device and is under your control. For anything else, contact us at support@townle.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

12. Children

Townle is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

13. Security

Townle is served over HTTPS. Since we hold almost no personal data, the main safeguard is not collecting it in the first place.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time - for example when we add new features or partners. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
